it's 4.28am now and i realise why we have problem communicating. it's because our parents are parents who are strict, conservative, asian thinking, chinese value parents. I don't believe that our parents are those that express they're love openly to us even if we're the ones they love to death in the whole entire universe simply because they do not know how to express themselves.

Our fathers - they are the man of the family. they have the final say. they will never show us their softer side. have you seen your father cry? it's surely one of the rarest sighting ever and you'll be shock if you see that -like can buy 4d and win first prize. it's just that chinese man think they're macho macho and must show no feeling and look all so gung-ho. to us they're the scariest next to our mothers cause if they know any of our deep dark secrets we're gonna get a loud scolding. scolding from our fathers are scarier then beatings from the diciplinary teacher. admit to this. cause it is true.

Our Mothers - they're like superwoman. they work, do the housework and take care of us and at the same time always suffer our loud screeching screams and our lack of respect towards times. they're women so we're less scared of them compared to our fathers but we always run to them when we're in need of something that we can't get from our father cause we know she's the only woman besides his mother that can change his mind. we respect our mothers cause they're superwoman and they're the most beautiful women in the world even if they don't possess supermodel features but they'll always be the most beautiful and the best.

Our Siblings - irritating but you always can tell them anything knowing that he/she will never "pao toh" to your parents cause if they do, you can always get him/her into as much trouble as he/she has gotten you into.

Us - we share among ourselves our thoughts and feelings cause of the trust we built in this strong friendship over the years of tears, swearing, hugging, fighting, bitching, shopping, laughing, eating and so many other stuff that if i go on i will never have to sleep for the next few days/weeks. These things we did together knitted our friendship to kinship and we're the sisters we never had but wished we had. the care and love is always there but since we got our communication barrier from our asian chinese conservative parentage, we will never say it to our faces cause we're shy and scared to be labeled as "SIAO" for real... but yes in true fact we do.

Scolding and screaming and nagging - ways of how our asian chinese conservative parents show their love, care and concern.

The word "love" - is SACRED to them. is a word only to be used to us when we don't know what it means(like when we were babies or if we're unconcious). is scary cause it might mean that their baby daughters have grown up and learn to "love" a man that might "steal" her away but you know it is not true but it's a fear that parents will always have - losing their child.

why in the world am i writing all these thoughts of my down? cause, i think it's time we live in our generation and not our parents. in fact give your parents a hug one of these days, muster up the courage. instill in them communication and family bonding. it's a good feeling. trust me. i did it years ago and now my mother always tells me openly "i love you quinnie" and talks to me about marriage and why my choice of exbfs were weird and funny*super weird* and my father says "be good" or "you want to order kfc?" and jokes around more openly. there are still topic that are sensitive to them so give them time to open up(like sex, marriage, MONEY, sleeping and not doing anything with the opposite sex - eg. chalet same bed, technology - cause they're still slow la). i still have the same respect for my parents in fact i respect them more then when they were always scolding me for things i did wrong but never want to admit that i'm wrong.

my main point is, we should start communicating cause communication is the key to a successful relationship and a successful and fulfilled life.

*note - this has nothing to do with mass communication*
